Extraordinary lifesaving actions
In November 2024, Security Supervisor Ayden Bonotti responded immediately to an urgent radio call reporting on an unresponsive male suffering from a suspected overdose. Within 30 seconds, Bonotti was on scene, joining Security Guard Gursidak Singh, who had already contacted emergency services and Toronto Community Housing’s Community Safety Unit, while attempting to rouse the unconscious man.
Demonstrating their advanced training and synchronized action, Ayden applied continuous sternum rubs and pressure point presses to stimulate the victim, while Gursidak administered a spray of Narcan. Their swift intervention initiated the first signs of recovery, and the man began to show signs of responsiveness.
Shortly afterward, TCHC Special Constable Wahib Wardak arrived, assisting in the lifesaving efforts, helping to keep the man alert and placing him in the recovery position with Ayden and Gursidak.
As a team, Ayden, Gursidak and Wardak worked seamlessly, with Wahib maintaining pressure point presses to sustain the man’s consciousness and verifying vital details, including the use of fentanyl, which proved essential for the responding medical teams.
In an incident fraught with life-or-death urgency, Ayden, Gursidak and Wahib exemplified calm under pressure and effective response, ensuring that the man was stabilized until fire services and EMS arrived, transporting him for further treatment.
Thank you!
