Lifesaving teamwork in a stressful situation

In November 2025, Shift Supervisor Andrew Hartley and Security Guard Isai Lopez were told that there was an unresponsive male on the floor outside of a retail location.

They immediately attended the location and found the subject face down on the floor, who they quickly assessed. Security Guard Michael Tosu arrived with the first aid bag and the AED.

The team placed the man on his back an started chest compressions. SOC Operator Saikumar Dade placed the call to 911. When Hartley stopped the chest compressions, Lopez administered Naloxone. The man was observed gasping for air and then returned to being unresponsive. Tosu took over chest compressions and administered another dose of Naloxone, whereupon the man took a deep gasp of air, but was not fully conscious.

The security team prepared the subject to place AED pads, by removing the man’s jacket and shirt, but emergency services arrived at the location and took over the situation. They continued CPR and administered an IV. Paramedics states that the man was lucky to be alive, and transported him to hospital.

Thank you to the whole security team. Your efforts saved a life!
