Persuaded an injured person to get medical attention

During a slip and fall incident, a victim who had suffered a severe head injury declined help from Emergency Medical Services.

The security team decided that it was prudent to have EMS attend, and they called 911. The victim continued to resist medical attention even after EMS and an advanced paramedic arrived, and EMS was going to clear the scene due to patient refusal.

However, Security Guard Von Esparida stayed and talked with the injured person, and after almost 20 minutes managed to convince him to leave with EMS. During transport to the hospital, the victim fell into a coma and required emergency surgery to relieve pressure on his brain. The act of calmly engaging with the victim and convincing him to go with the paramedics saved his life.

Thank you, Security Guard Von Esperida!
