Providing life-saving CPR in extreme conditions
Security Operations received a report from Security Officers Kashyap and Dhaliwal regarding a male covered by a blanket. The officers reported that the man, who was in a fetal position, was unresponsive.
Assistant Site Supervisor Lanh Rahlan attended the site, removed the blanket, and assessed the man. It was noted that he had gurgly breathing (one breath approximately every 3 seconds) and was not responding to verbal commands or pain stimuli. Rahlan also noticed that the male had purple lips and his eyes were rolled back.
Security placed the man in the recovery position and instructed Security Officer Kashyap to call Code White over the radio, while Rahlan then immediately called 911 for medical assistance.
As instructed by the 911 operator, security repositioned the male into a supine position and began performing CPR until the paramedic team arrived. SOCO Wong sent out the opening Rave Alert.
The fire rescue team arrived on site and took over patient care, followed by additional EMS professionals, while security remained on site to provide crowd control. Eventually, the man regained consciousness. EHS reported that the man had overdosed and they administered Narcan.
Assistant Site Supervisor has only one hand and was still able to provide lifesaving CPR. Without his efforts, the situation may have had a much more tragic outcome.
Thank you!
