Immediate action deterred a suicide
In November 2025, while patrolling at a post-secondary campus, Security Shift Supervisor Grace McGhee was stopped and advised of a person in distress in the women’s restroom.
Entering the restroom, McGhee observed a conscious female student had cut her wrists with a scalpel. She applied pressure to the bleeding wound and confiscated the scalpel.
The female immediately took out another scalpel and attempted to cut her wrists further, but McGhee intercepted and removed the second scalpel from her before further injuries were sustained, and continued to interact with the female while awaiting paramedics.
Thanks to McGhee’s ongoing support, the situation was successfully de-escalated and the female was convinced to accept additional support from paramedics upon their arrival.
Thank you, Shift Supervisor McGhee!
