Prompt response ensured a life was saved

While on duty outside a Toronto hospital, Officer Akshit Puri discovered a man in medical distress and called for a Code Blue. Officer Danyal Butt attended the scene immediately and recognized that the man was in cardiac arrest.

Officer Butt began CPR, which he continued until EMS arrived, while Officer Puri began to assist in flagging down paramedics and the fire department to ensure the man was transported to the emergency department as soon as possible. He also stayed with the man’s partner, who he ensured was brought to the appropriate emergency room.

Based on conversations with the clinical staff of the Emergency Department, it was clear that Officers Butt and Puri’s interventions bought precious minutes of time, which in turn likely saved the man’s life.

Thank you, officers!
