Officer Bates took immediate action to stabilize the person and, recognizing a lapse in proper protocol, took control of the situation. He had his teammates contact EMS directly and provided them with crucial information about the patient’s condition. To prevent any further aggravation of the patient’s injuries, Officer Bates ensured the patient remained as still and calm as possible while monitoring their condition closely.
