Excellent teamwork in a crisis situation
The Paragon security team at Hudson’s Bay in Brampton reported to the scene following the report of an elderly female who was unconscious and not breathing.
Arriving quickly, the team determined that the woman had no vital signs, and immediately began cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while additional security team members arrived with the automated external defibrillator (AED).
Emergency services was contacted, and while waiting for them to arrive, the team completed several rounds of CPR and delivered three shocks as advised by the AED. EMS arrived and care was transferred to their team, who transferred the woman to a stretcher and transported her to hospital in an ambulance.
Peel Regional Police later advised that the woman was in a stable condition and likely to survive, thanks to the quick actions of the security team.
