Prompt, decisive action saved a life

While on patrol in downtown Toronto, Officer Dervarsh Rupakar observed an unresponsive male in the stairwell just off a food court.

He immediately requested backup. Supervisor Danish Mohammed and Patrol Guard Khalid Wali quickly attended with a trauma bag, and Supervisor Mohammed contacted EMS via 911.

The unresponsive male was known to the security team as a substance user, so after a brief examination they determined that the man had overdosed. EMS was advised and the team was instructed to administer Narcan. Shortly after doing so, the man regained consciousness and was transported to hospital where he was able to recover.

Had the staff not located and treated this man quickly, it is likely he would have perished on-scene. Thank you, officers!
