Impeccable judgement and quick thinking
In September 2023, the security team received an urgent call from an individual expressing concern about his friend who lived in a condo in downtown Toronto. The friend had been unreachable for a few days. Recognizing the potential severity of the situation, Officers Simran Singh and Ahmed Rabbani Abdul Haseeb Shaikh attended the unit.
Upon arrival, they found the door to the unit unlocked. Inside, the friend’s belongings were scattered haphazardly, and, more importantly, the friend was found unconscious on the floor.
The security team swiftly enlisted the aid of an EMS team who were already on-site for a different event. Following a brief assessment, EMS deduced that the friend was in a state of extreme intoxication, likely due to a drug overdose. The EMS team then stabilized the friend and removed him to hospital.
After handling the immediate crisis, Officers Singh and Rabbani secured and locked the unit, ensuring the friend’s possessions remained untouched, and they safely placed the keys in an envelope and left them at the front desk of the condominium building.
Thanks to the team’s immediate and effective response, the friend was saved from a potentially life-threatening overdose, and didn’t have to stay in hospital worried about his home being unlocked and vulnerable.
Thank you, Officers Singh and Rabbani!
