Extraordinary care of a child
While on duty, Security Guard Priya Bhatti demonstrated extraordinary care and professionalism when a young child was discovered alone in a vehicle in hot weather.
While peace officers worked to respond, the child was frightened and hesitant to leave the car. Bhatti stepped in with compassion, speaking calmly and encouragingly until she gained the child’s trust and convinced them to open the door. She then ensured the child’s safety and comfort by bringing them inside and staying with them throughout the incident.
Her actions were truly lifesaving. Bhatti’s ability to remain calm under pressure, use her outstanding communication skills, and provide comfort in a critical moment directly ensured the child’s well-being.
