Providing safety in the community
Upon responding to a noise complaint in September, 2024, Security Guards Ahmad Hakimzadeh and Norris Tetteh addressed the initial issue of hallway disturbances but also went above and beyond to ensure the safety of a resident.
After multiple noise complaints and follow-up inspections, Security Guards Hakimzadeh and Tetteh went to check in with a resident but heard no noise. However, Security Guard Julian Andres Trujillo Paez confirmed that during his food delivery to the unit a few minutes before, he heard children screaming and signs of domestic distress in the residence.
Security Guards Hakimzadeh and Tetteh saw the resident leaving the unit and joined him in the elevator. During the ride, they noticed the resident appeared visibly impaired, smelled of alcohol, and was exhibiting signs of distress, including stumbling and dropping his keys.
Hakimzadeh and Tetteh informed Paez, and together they decided to intervene by blocking and stopping the resident from driving out of the property, by physically positioning themselves so the resident could not drive out onto the public road and endanger the public and themselves.
Their calm and decisive handling of the situation, including convincing the resident to hand over his car keys and arranging for alternative transportation, averted a potentially serious accident and harm to the individual and others.
Thank you for your leadership, quick thinking, compassion and concern for the community!
