Defusing potential weapons violence
In July 2024, Security Team Lead Harmanpreet Singh responded to a disturbance call at a a restaurant. When Team Lead Singh arrived on the scene, he found a distressed female who had a knife. The woman then turned the knife on herself, holding the knife to her chest, and told Team Lead Singh to leave her alone or she was going to kill herself.
Using his training and de-escalation skills, Team Lead Singh remained calm, giving the woman her space. She eventually stopped pointing the knife at herself and put it away, and then sat down and began to hit herself.
Team Lead Singh radioed the Control Team, letting them know what was going on. He contacted police services, who arrived shortly afterwards and took the woman into safe custody.
Thank you, Team Lead Singh, for remaining calm and defusing the situation, creating a safe space for this woman so help could be obtained!
