Exceptional vigilance and quick thinking
Security Officers Yerlan Ospanov and Tej Manikandan were on duty at the Calgary Courts Centre when they noticed a person lying on the ground in the middle of a bustling downtown road.
Recognizing the imminent danger posed by passing vehicles and the individual’s clearly compromised state, they promptly alerted the security control room and obtained clearance to approach the scene.
With utmost care and consideration for the person’s safety, the pair approached the man in the road. The man was severely intoxicated, injured, and exhibiting signs of frostbite and hypothermia, rendering him unable to move safely. Understanding the critical nature of the situation, Officers Ospanov and Manikandan swiftly relocated the person to a secure location on the sidewalk, away from the flow of traffic.
Officer Ospanov’s and Officer Manikandan’s decisive actions ensured this man’s immediate safety until emergency services arrived.
