Attention to detail saves a life

In March 2021, Security Officer Harprabhjot Kaur, alone with other Paladin Security guards, assisted Vancouver Police officers with the search for a young woman, whose life was considered to be in jeopardy.

While performing a two-city-blocks-wide property search, Harprabhjot demonstrated the ultimate attention to detail by noticing that one of the family washrooms on the property appeared to be locked. Officer Kaur did not hesitate, and performed a wellness check on the person inside. When she received no response, she immediately contacted dispatch asking for a CCTV review of the location.

The review revealed that Harprabhjot’s assessment was correct: The person they’d been searching for had been seen entering the washroom less than than an hour before the wellness check.

Vancouver Police was notified and immediately escorted to the location, where they found the young woman, who was alive but barely conscious, an empty box of drugs and an X-acto knife on the floor beside her. The patient was taken safely out of the washroom and passed on to EMS.

VPD officers expressed their gratitude to Harprabhjot and the team for their full commitment, advising that the woman’s life was saved by their prompt action.

Although the whole security team was involved in the collective effort to find the young woman, it was Harprabhjot’s attention to detail and ensuring every area was checked that really made the difference.

Thank you, Officer Kaur!
