Immediate response to an overdose
While on duty in May 2025, Assistant Supervisor Andrew Summerfelt was notified that there was a man in medical distress outside near a fast food restaurant.
Upon arriving to the scene, Summerfelt noted that the man was unresponsive and appeared to be suffering form an overdose. He quickly administered a dose of Narcan. When there was no effect, he administered a second dose, and this time was able to rouse the man.
EMS and firefighters arrived on the scene shortly thereafter and took over treatment; however, the man ultimately refused further medical attention and left the scene.
Thanks to Assistant Supervisor Summerfelt, a potential tragedy was averted.
