Extraordinary composure and care for a fellow security professional
During a recent event, Security Guard Eila De Almeida demonstrated extraordinary composure, initiative and compassion in responding to a medical emergency involving a fellow security guard.
Upon being called to assist, Security Guard De Almeida quickly assessed the situation, identifying that the other guard was unresponsive but breathing, inside a public washroom at an event venue during a shift. The event was particularly hot and the extreme temperatures had caused the guard to collapse.
Without hesitation, De Almeida entered the washroom stall to provide aid, checking for signs of consciousness and ensuring that the other guard’s airway was clear. Her calm and decisive actions – including performing a sternum rub, administering water and removing excess clothing to help cool the individual – were instrumental in stabilizing the other guard until paramedics arrived.
De Almeida continued to monitor the other guard’s condition, coordinated with colleagues to ensure proper communication with emergency services, and followed up after the incident to confirm the guard’s location and inform the appropriate contacts.
