Swift and lifesaving actions

In February 2025, while on duty in a high-traffic residential shelter, a non-resident reported that a resident had overdosed and likely required Narcan. Security Guard George McLaughlin immediately proceeded to the scene to assist.

Upon entering the unit, McLaughlin found the man unconscious on the couch, struggling to breathe and making a gurgling sound. Under the direction of the 911 operator, McLaughlin carefully placed the man on the floor in the recovery position. He initiated CPR, administering chest compressions and following emergency guidance until paramedics arrived on the scene shortly thereafter.

His prompt and decisive actions maintained circulation and oxygen flow, significantly increasing the man’s chances of survival. His actions not only prevented a tragic outcome but also demonstrated the essential role that security professionals play in crisis situations.

Thank you, Security Guard McLaughlin, for your selfless and effective actions!
