Protected patient from fall risk area
While working at Penticton Regional Hospital, Security Officers Leonard Smith and Curtis Metka discovered a patient who was suffering from medical distress in the parkade and had wandered into a fall risk area.
Through the work of both officers, the patient was removed from imminent danger and the relevant stakeholders (fire department, police and clinicians) were engaged to ensure that the patient was safely returned to their unit.
These officers demonstrated great care, patience and compassion, which contributed to the best possible outcome in an incident that could easily have been catastrophic.
“As a Supervisor, I am very proud to have two officers of this calibre on my team,” said Security Supervisor Jason Bowes about the incident.
(Just a reminder that November is Fall Prevention Month – let’s all be as observant as Officers Smith and Metka!)
