Lifesaving event at Dufferin Mall, Toronto

In May 2023, the security team at Dufferin Mall in Toronto received a call regarding an unresponsive male in a restroom.

Security Officer Abor-Gabriel noted that the individual was unresponsive, but breathing very slightly. He immediately placed a call to Emergency Services, while Security Guards Fabio Dos Santos and Rohit Malik arrived on-scene with the medical kits.

Dos Santos and Malik assisted Abor-Gabriel in the medical response while closing off the washroom so no other patrons could enter. The guards noticed obvious drug paraphernalia in the immediate area and determined that the individual was likely suffering from an overdose.

Dos Santos quickly administered two doses of Naloxone to the individual via nasal spray. After a few moments, the individual regained consciousness and was assisted to one of the main entrances, where he was met by Toronto Fire Services.

The team handled themselves well and helped to save the individual’s life.

Thank you, officers, for your teamwork and quick thinking!
