Lifesaving efforts in retail security

While on duty at the Atrium on Bay in downtown Toronto, Shift Supervisor Andrew Hartley and Security Guard Karandeep Singh were alerted that there was an unresponsive male lying outside, within the patio of a mall restaurant.

Supervisor Hartley made several attempts to communicate with the person, but noticed that his eyes were rolled back and that he was snoring, and he was unresponsive. Security Guard Singh immediately started chest compressions, and Hartley administered a dose of Naloxone, suspecting an overdose.

With still no response from the man, Hartley took over from Singh and continued chest compressions, while EMS was contacted by the restaurant owner.

When EMS arrived, the man was transported to the hospital where he recovered, thanks to the prompt hands-on actions of Supervisor Hartley and Security Guard Singh.

Thank you!
