Teamwork saved a life after an overdose

While on patrol at a retail facility in downtown Toronto and inspecting the washrooms, Security Guard Shikhar Mahajan noted an unconscious male lying between the stalls and requested immediate assistance. Attending the call was Shift Supervisor Jervy Sicat, who helped to place the male in the recovery position and determined that he had overdosed. They reported that the man had shallow breathing, his face was turning pale, his lips were blue and his eyes were rolled back into his head.

They immediately requested EMS and the site trauma bag. Security Guard Jeffry Arce attended to the scene with the trauma bag, and Supervisor Sicat administered a dose of Naloxone while Security Guard Arce started CPR compressions.

Just prior to EMS arrival, the male regained consciousness and was transported to the hospital. Thanks to the quick work of the team, the man recovered.

Thank you!
