Heroic actions that saved a life
While on duty as a mobile security worker in July 2024, Security Supervisor Amarjot Singh was patrolling various sites when he came across a car fire, with the driver still trapped inside. Acting without hesitation, he pulled over and approached he burning vehicle to offer assistance. Despite the driver initially refusing help, Supervisor Singh took decisive action when the situation escalated.
“After the first blast in the car, I thought, I couldn’t let him die,” Supervisor Singh recounted. “So I just broke the window, opened the door, cut his belt and pulled him out.”
Singh’s quick thinking and courage were instrumental in saving the driver’s life. Even after the rescue, Singh remained focused on safety, breaking additional windows to confirm there were no other occupants in the vehicle. He noted that the driver appeared intoxicated and even attempted to return to the burning car.
Despite the intensity of the situation, Supervisor Singh maintained his commitment to duty, returning to work once the scene was clear. His response to the incident exemplifies his dedication to protecting and serving the community, even in the face of danger.
Kelowna-Lake Country MP Tracy Gray praised Singh for going above and beyond his responsibilities, stating: “Our community is beyond grateful for your unwavering commitment to service. Thank you for your bravery and quick thinking in the face of danger.”
Thank you, Supervisor Singh!
