Lifesaving efforts in healthcare security
In the summer of 2024, Security Officer Nick Ramos was working a night shift at a healthcare facility. He was monitoring the CCTV when he noticed an individual lying on the ground just outside the building at which he was patrolling.
Proceeding immediately to the area, Officer Ramos saw that the man was blue in colour and not breathing, and determined that the individual needed immediate medical assistance due to a suspected overdose.
With the assistance of two bystanders, Officer Ramos returned to his post to obtain his Naloxone kit while calling 911. Under the direction of the 911 dispatcher, Officer Ramos had one of the bystanders administer a dose of Naloxone every 5 minutes while the second bystander administered CPR to the individual.
With Officer Ramos coordinating, paramedics arrived on-scene and were able to revive the patient, who was then taken to hospital for further medical care. Thanks to Officer Ramos’ keen observation, quick thinking and team leadership, a life was saved.
Thank you, Officer Ramos!
