Compassion and empathy in a dangerous situation

While on duty for Fortify Protection, Security Guard Jacob Dunn was approached by a young man in distress, who said that an individual had “gone down” and was in need of naloxone (which is generally administered in the event of a life-threatening drug overdose).

Dunn responded immediately, following the young man to the individual needing assistance. He immediately administered naloxone and began chest compressions. In the meantime, another security patroller also called 911.

After a few minutes, the person was revived – and was able to give Dunn a first pump and said “Thanks for saving my life!”

In a dangerous environment, Security Guard Dunn was able to respond swiftly, calmly, professionally – and with compassion and empathy, both of which are so important in high-stress emergency situations.

Thank you, Jacob!
