Lifesaving actions on campus
In June 2025, a student at a BC university advised the security team that there was an individual sleeping in the bushes on campus. Two security officers, Site Manager Amrit Khullar and Site Supervisor Toni McNamee, went to check on the individual. Upon closer observation, the man appeared to be suffering from an overdose.
As the man was unresponsive to verbal and physical stimulation, Narcan was immediately administered by Khullar via the nasal cavity. McNamee called the security office and requested they call 911.
As the man’s eyes were rolled back, their skin cold to the touch and their pulse was weak and difficult to locate, McNamee began CPR. After approximately 8 minutes, the man became responsive and agitated. At this point, paramedics arrived and the man was transported to hospital.
Thank you, Site Manager Khullar and Site Supervisor McNamee, for your prompt actions and effective teamwork!
